Raised in the City of Moore Haven, a low lying rural township in the heart of Florida's cane country, creative expression through poetry and short stories helped me fill the empty, wide open spaces of my childhood. In 2003, I moved to New York and in the spring of 2007, received my first publication by online literary journal. That publication spurred my creation of a poetry blog, "Words Much Like Poetry," that was at its core an exercise in courage. My poetry is extremely personal in nature, you see--an exorcism of roiling thoughts, mercurial emotions, of joy and hurt and heartache, most especially heartache. But, "Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace," (Amelia Earhart).
Blogging offered me the barest beginnings of peace where writing is concerned, and, in finding peace, I found the strength to reach for a whole host of new goals.
